Welcome to our Community Website
This 'demo' community site includes a mixture of real and 'made-up' examples of news, events and a comprehensive business & organisation directory (fully searchable). Students can explore this site to get ideas of what their own community website might eventually look like. Community websites prepared by UK students can also be found at www.examples.localbiz.co.uk. As you will discover, each site is unique. Students are given autonomy to use their individual skills and talents to create and manage their own site.
You can use Demotown to search the business directory, view local news stories or upcoming events and see the potential for students in your school or college to create their own community website. Students working together can create vibrant and visually attractive community website very quickly.
In the 'Search by Keywords' section (below) type 'plc' in the box and press GO or type the word 'school' and see what happens.
In the 'Search by Categories' section (below) - try the drop down menu to find out who's in emergency numbers or IT suppliers.
All pictures/graphics appearing on the community website will be taken and/or selected by students - using their creative talents!
